Dr. S. & S. S. Ghandhy Government Engineering College, Surat is one of the eight new Government Engineering Colleges established in July 2004 to educate young talent in the field of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The institute offers an outstanding learning environment. Faculties are dedicated to providing the students global technical capabilities required for success. The learning experience is catalyzed by sharing recent developments in the field and delivered by experienced research-oriented teachers and experts from the field. At present Institute offers five UG programs and two PG programs.

Civil Engineering is a very vast and continuously emerging branch. The department has highly qualified Faculty members with well-equipped laboratories of Fluid Mechanics, Transportation Engineering, Surveying, Environmental Engineering and Engineering Geology. The graduates from the Institute equipped with the knowledge and sound technical information, refined professional touch, are capable of undertaking the Civil Engineering jobs to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. Department also offers postgraduate course in Water Resource Engineering program.
